I'm going to start a page on this blog called Letters to Mrs. Kelly. On this page, you can read the letters from my students. I hope that you enjoy them. Perhaps this will give you a glimpse into the mind of my students. Please be mindful. They've been studying English for 10 years or more, but their ability is not really good. Most of my students can't pass their English exams. It's really a huge problem.
Anyway, Meng came to our meeting this week. She was the only one to respond to my invitation. I met up with her at the lake on campus where the school is constructing a new building. I led her to my apartment. Cheryl, the Canadian teacher, joined us there. We commenced with our meeting. To be honest, I was extremely worried that Meng wouldn't understand. She's not an English major and I know that she doesn't always understand. My awesome husband decided to use some of our bilingual materials for a lesson on prayer. This gave Meng something in English and in Chinese to look at. I don't know if she followed the discussion.
She left right after we were finished. Then she sent me a text message. I didn't change any of the contents of the message: "Mrs. kelly. Thanks for your help. Though I did'nt underdtand what you are saying sometimes, but most can understand. I am very happy this afternoon with your family. I will go to your home every sunday if I don't have something to do .maybe I will go to your home with my friends you and don't need to meet us.I know the location of your home."
My prayer is that she will return to our home in the future and bring lots of friends. I invited several of her classmates. If she tells them that she came to visit us, I think her classmates will be more likely to come. It's rare for the students to do anything alone. When it comes to ministry, that's a good thing.
