We finally received some real dates for when we'll start working in China. Looks like our classes start on September 20. This means that we have a little more time before leaving. It is a little frustrating because we still can't buy our plane tickets until we get our visa invitation letter. That will only give us 1-2 weeks advance notice to buy our plane tickets. That helps a little with the prices, but it will still be a rushed trip to get to China. Let's hope that nothing else happens to our paperwork along the way.

This month has been a practice in patience. Due to a hold up on paper work in both America and now in China we are stuck here in the USA until the end of September. This is beyond frustrating for us.
It would have been nice if the school had told us 3 months ago that they weren't anticipating us even beginning to work until the end of September. They also want us to contact our old school to get them to redo a reference letter and put a red stamp on it. It's the exact same letter, but they need that stamp. Neither of us can understand why that's so important, especially when the 3 other letters we sent them has the stamp on it. We're going to try to contact the school. That's assuming that the email we have is still valid or that they even remember us now. Here's hoping we can get someone who speaks English there to respond to us with the papers we need. In the mean time, I hope that you all will join us in asking the Father to provide all of our needs while we are here in the states and in this transitional phase of our lives. Time is quickly winding down and soon we will be on our way to China. This wait has been a very difficult lesson in patience, but I do believe we've come one step closer to mastering it. We are still awaiting our papers from China. Once we get them, we'll be out of the USA in a matter of 2-3 days. If you haven't said your good-byes to us yet, now's the time!
So, we reached our goal last Thursday, but the money just keeps coming in! It's amazing how the Father works. He just keeps raining down blessings and is preparing things even before we know that we need them.
Our family still doesn't know when our departure date is. We're already 4 days past our original date to leave America. We're waiting on a vital little piece of paper called a visa invitation letter. Until we get this letter, we cannot apply for our visas. Once we get it, things will move very quickly because we're already behind schedule. The plan is to get this paper in the mail, then take a trip to D.C. the very next day in order to get our visas. We'll have to apply for a 1-day visa, pay some extra money, wait a few hours, and then pick them up. Then we'll buy plane tickets for the next possible flight out of the USA and be on our way to China within that week. I hate it that we have to move so quickly, but we don't have a choice at this point in time. Other than the wait, things are going well. We hadn't planned to be here this long so we're out of our own money. We're hoping that this letter comes soon because otherwise we'll have to find more work here and that would just be a mess. Oh, please keep us in mind when you speak with the Father. Aolani has come down with a fever of some sort and we really need that to run its course and go away. We also need for the rest of us to not get sick. That's about it for our update. I'll post more info once I have it. |
