I was doing a writing assignment with my students and I had to talk with all of them one by one to check their assignments and offer ideas for corrections when they were stuck. I helped L.Xu and praised him for improving his handwriting. In the past, his writing was so terrible that I could barely read it. We had talked about it at length prior to that day. Anyway, after we finished talking about his paper, he paused and very quietly asked if he could attend my meeting. I was surprised because I'd never mentioned anything to him about it. I guess word travels fast. Of course, I told him it was fine. He got directions from some of the other students.
Our little group of 7 trickled in at meeting time. Colonel taught about Hannah. The students were really interested in this discussion. They had a lot of comments to make. I was surprised and glad that they could understand.
I'm pretty sure that there'll be at least one new person joining us next time. I'm working on letters today and I'll be inviting several others. I still haven't even gotten to mention Higher Education things to half of my class yes, but I'm working on it. I also am looking for a way to introduce my freshmen students to this. It's harder because they are business English majors and we're focusing on oral English right now. Our lessons don't give me much opportunity to mention these things to them, but I'm going to keep thinking about it. I hope that everyone who reads this will join with me in praying for opportunities that lead into discussion about Higher Education.
Family Update
I'm still asking for prayers for my brother, grandfather, 2 uncles who both have cancer, and my aunt. I'm still asking for prayers for my mom too. I had a good conversation with her today and I'm positive that she'll make it through these difficult times. She's still got joy and peace even while trying to help so many people who are struggling. I know that God will continue to bless her because she is trying to help other people. In the end, it's all about love.
Colonel went to the doctor's this week to have his foot checked out. It turns out that he has bursitis in his foot. He's been dealing with it for about a week. he has to go to the doctor each day to get an IV drip of penicillin. We all know that an IV is not necessary, but the Chinese doctors insist on it. It's very annoying. Every day Colonel has to get a student to go with him to the hospital. She has to explain what he needs. Then he has to sit there for 2 hours waiting for the IV bag to empty out. Then he has to soak his foot 3 times a day in epsom salt. On top of that, it's difficult for him to walk around. He's handling it well though. I'm proud of him. He's managed to get to all of his classes on time and teach regardless of his injury. I can't say that I would do the same. Please pray for him to be healed soon.
